Play Big Food at their own game, but play clean! Turn the shake into a slushie, a float or a ‘krushem’.
Slushie style:
Yup, sounds like hard work, but it’s not. Your kids’ll happily whizz the ice cubes and protein shake in a blender – supervised by you, obvs. You know kids love to press a button (or two)!
- Mum tip: Reduce the milk content slightly to accommodate the crushed ice. Oh, and remember to put the lid on the blender – no one wants to be up a ladder cleaning the ceiling in 30-degree heat.
Ice cream float style:
Add a scoop of our ice cream, such as Banana Protein Ice Cream or Cottage Cheese, Strawberry and Vanilla Ice Cream, to a glass of full fat milk.
- Mum tip: Count to ten if they insist on blowing bubbles down their straws.
Krushem style:
The high street adds chocolate bars and biscuits to skimmed milk and crushed ice. Dirty. You’ll keep it squeaky clean by rustling up a batch of Choccy Cookies or Chickpea Protein Cookies. Pop your full fat milk and ice in the blender with the cookies. Crushed it without the crash. They’ll be fuller for longer and so are more likely to bring their sunny dispositions with them, although we can’t cater for sibling squabbles. Sorry.
- Mum tip: Pop in a small scoop of protein powder to create flavour amp-ups and contrasts. Remember, the cookies have protein powder in too, so adjust accordingly. Use your discretion for under 12s. For example, use the small end of The Scoop, and make it just less than half a sachet for 12–16s.
