In this weekly post, I share with you my most interesting discoveries of the week, including the latest news on the fronts of fitness, nutrition, health, wellness, biohacking, and anti-aging research. I also recap my upcoming events and special announcements so you can keep up with opportunities to learn, giveaways, discounts, and more!

Several years ago, as I started spending more time interviewing regenerative medicine researchers, one thing became clear: the field is full of promise, but also full of misinformation and poorly understood science, especially when it comes to stem cells.

But every once in a while, a discovery emerges, in this case, one that keeps resurfacing in my conversations with serious clinicians and scientists.

One of those big discoveries is a rare population of stress-resistant stem cells first identified in 2010 by Professor Mari Dezawa, MD, PhD, at Tohoku University in Japan.

These cells, known as Dezawa MuseCells®, represent a very different category of adult stem cells.

Unlike many stem cell approaches that require genetic manipulation or laboratory reprogramming, MuseCells® are naturally occurring pluripotent cells capable of differentiating into ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm lineages in vivo—without the tumor-forming risks that have historically complicated pluripotent stem cell research.

Even more intriguing, they demonstrate an unusual ability to survive extreme biological stress, including oxidative stress and nutrient deprivation—conditions that typically destroy most cells.

Because of this, I’ve officially joined the Scientific Advisory Council for MuseCell Innovations, the only licensed source of authentic Dezawa MuseCells® produced using Professor Dezawa’s patented methods.

This all comes down to the role regenerative medicine is beginning to play at the frontier of human biology.

If this field is going to shape the future of medicine, it has to be pursued with real scientific scrutiny and a commitment to doing things the right way, and I want to support that while addressing the confusion and shoddy science so often found in the stem cell industry.

I’ll be sharing more about the science behind MuseCells® and how this research continues to evolve in the months ahead.

In the meantime, you can explore more about the technology and research behind Dezawa MuseCells® here.

This Week in Health & Performance: What the Latest Research Says

🕒 Circadian Rhythm & Fat Metabolism: A new study suggests that disruptions in circadian rhythm can directly cause metabolic dysfunction inside fat cells, potentially contributing to weight gain and metabolic disease. Interestingly, researchers found that NAD-related pathways may help counteract some of these effects due to their role in cellular energy metabolism and weight regulation (read more here).

🧬 Synbiotics for Male Fertility: When it comes to improving sperm quality, probiotics—especially when delivered as synbiotics that combine beneficial bacteria with targeted prebiotics—may outperform traditional antioxidant supplements. Emerging research suggests that improving the gut microbiome is a surprisingly strong way to support reproductive health (study here).

🧠 Time-Restricted Eating & Brain Health: In a 12-week study of older adults with mild cognitive impairment, a simple 15:9 time-restricted eating schedule, limiting food intake to a 9-hour daily window, led to modest improvements in cognition, including better verbal memory and recognition memory. The results add to growing evidence that metabolic timing can influence brain function and aging (read the study).

Key Takeaway: From circadian biology and microbiome health to meal timing strategies, emerging research continues to show that when and how we fuel our bodies can influence everything from metabolism to fertility to brain performance.

Manukora Hard training, travel, long workdays, and inconsistent sleep can all increase oxidative stress and inflammatory signaling.
