How to Firm Sagging Neck Skin (10 Simple Ways That Help)

If your neck is starting to look loose or less defined, you’re not alone.

It’s one of those areas that can change before you expect it to—and it can be frustrating when your face still looks good, but your neck doesn’t quite match.

The good news is you don’t need anything complicated to start improving it.

I’ve tried these methods myself, and I’ll walk you through the simple things that can help firm and smooth your neck over time.

Why your neck starts to sag

The neck is one of the first areas to show changes. The skin here is thinner, and it doesn’t have as much support as your face—so over time, it can start to look looser.

A few things are usually happening at once:

  • collagen and elasticity naturally slow down
  • the neck muscles lose strength
  • and everyday habits (like looking down at your phone) don’t help

The good news is this is exactly why simple things like exercises and massage can make a difference. If you’re not sure where to start, the next section will walk you through a few easy options you can begin with.

Can sagging or crepey neck skin be improved?

Yes—but it depends on what’s causing it.

If the skin looks loose, thin, or a little crepey, you can improve how it looks by supporting the skin and the muscles underneath it.

That’s where simple things like facial exercises, massage, and consistent skincare come in.

They won’t change your skin overnight—but over time, they can help your neck look firmer and more supported. If you’re not sure what that looks like, here’s an example from my own results.

Ways to firm sagging neck skin

If your neck is starting to look looser or less defined, these are the main ways to start improving it. You don’t need to do everything—just pick one place to start and build from there.

Here’s what that can look like:

Lift and support the neck

These help when the neck feels heavier, looser, or less defined and you want more visible firmness.

1. Dry brushing for wrinkles: Dry brushing is a simple way to wake up the skin and encourage circulation. It will not lift the neck on its own, but it can help the skin look a little fresher and feel smoother. If your skin is sensitive, use a light touch and don’t overdo it.

2. Neck exercises to firm: Neck exercises help support the muscles underneath the skin, which is one reason they can make such a difference over time. This is one of the best places to start if your neck looks loose or less supported. You don’t need a long routine. Just one or two good exercises done consistently can help.

3. Massage to improve saggy skin: Massage helps encourage blood flow and can make the neck look smoother and more toned over time. It can also help release some of that tight, heavy feeling that builds up in the neck and jaw area.

Here’s what that looks like:

It’s really simple. Here’s how to do it:

  • Tilt your chin slightly upward 
  •  Place your hands at the sides of your neck 
  •  Gently glide downward toward your collarbone
  •  Repeat for about 30–60 seconds 
  • Move over and do it again

 If you’re not sure how much pressure to use, start light and adjust as you go. You don’t need to press hard for this to work. Start with a few passes and see how it feels.

4. Kansa wand for an Ayurvedic neck massage: If your hands get tired easily, or you just want a little extra help, a Kansa wand can make massage easier. It’s a nice option if you want the benefits of massage without doing all the work with your hands. You can see how I use my Kansa wand here.

5. Gua sha treatment: A gua sha tool can help improve circulation and may help the neck and chin area look firmer over time. It also helps your skincare products spread more easily and may help them absorb better. This can be a good option if you like tools and want something simple to add to your routine. I use an electric, heated, vibrating gua sha, you can lean more at this page.

These focus more on how the skin looks—helping it appear smoother, softer, and more even.

6. Hydrate and moisturize: Dry skin can make the neck look more crepey or saggy than it really is. This is one of the easiest places to start. A rich moisturizer can help the skin look softer and less tired, and I’ve found that adding a face oil on top can be especially helpful when my neck feels dry.

7. Vitamin C serum for skin aging: Vitamin C is one of my favorite ways to support the neck because it helps with both firmness and overall tone. It can also help fade discoloration over time, which is one reason I like using it here. You can see in my before-and-after photo that my neck not only looks firmer, but the deeper wrinkles and brown spots look softer too.

8. Exfoliate regularly: Gentle exfoliation can help smooth the skin and help your other skincare products work better. You don’t need to overdo it. A simple sugar-and-oil scrub once a week can help. I use a mild lactic and glycolic acid peel once or twice a month may also improve texture and softness over time.

9. Microneedling: Microneedling can help improve texture and fine lines. It may help the neck look smoother over time, but it usually won’t create a big lifting effect on its own. So if loose skin is your main concern, think of this more as a skin-texture treatment than a true firming treatment.

10. Neck firming patches: Neck patches can help the skin hold moisture and look smoother for a while. They’re more of a temporary boost than a long-term fix, but they can be nice for a special occasion or anytime you want your neck to look a little better quickly.

Improving sagging neck skin doesn’t have to be complicated. The biggest difference comes from doing a few simple things consistently—like exercises, massage, and keeping the skin well moisturized. You don’t need to do everything at once.

A: The use of Botox treatment (Botox neck lift) can give a more youthful appearance of the platysmal muscles. This cosmetic treatment relaxes the platysma muscles, so the vertical neck bands become less noticeable, reducing the appearance of an aging neck.

A: Yes, tech neck can cause vertical bands, neck lines, and contribute to a more prominent double chin. Tech neck is a term for a type of neck strain due to constantly looking down at cell phones and computers.

In addition to muscle stiffness and chronic neck pain, it also contributes to early appearance of jowls and horizontal wrinkles. Basically, this constant straining contributes to a look of aged sagging neck skin.

The best way to remedy this situation is to:

  1. Stop looking down at computer devices for prolong period of times (I know, easier said than done!)
  2. Try holding the device at eye level whenever possible
  3. Some people might require physical therapy for the muscle strain, or oral pain medication
  4. Try to firm neck skin and the muscles of the neck and lower face by performing the Neck Brush and Neck Ring Eraser. Check out my turkey neck before and after pictures to see how well neck exercises can help with sagging neck skin.

A: It all depends on the degree of your sagging neck skin and what’s causing the issue. This cosmetic procedure offers best results for a suitable candidate with fairly reasonable neck skin.

The doctor places dermal filler injections all around the lower jaw and face (sometimes called a liquid face lift).

The added volume can offer a noticeable lift of the sagging skin in the lower part of the face and neck. However, to maintain results, you’ll require repeated treatment sessions.

A: This popular treatment uses injection of Botox all along the lower face (jawline) and on the muscles of the neck (platysma bands). The muscles of treated areas become relaxed, creating a slight lift of sagging neck skin.
