For those of us having very sensitive skin, finding a good moisturizer is a major challenge. And trying new ones usually risks unwanted reactions such as redness, and/or acne. I have dealt with this problem for a long time, and I can say I am VERY careful and meticulous about what I put on my skin.

Some of the few products I can tolerate are the gels from ZIIP Beauty that are used with their at-home microcurrent device. And therefore, now that they have launched a skincare line, I was more than eager to try!

One product that immediately caught my attention from the new line was the ZIIP Repair Ceramide Moisturizer, which is part of their Barrier Boost range. Designed for skin that needs extra hydration and barrier support.

In this post, I’ll share my first impressions of the Repair Ceramide Moisturizer, take a closer look at its key ingredients and explain what I find interesting about ZIIP Beauty’s new skincare line. I’ll also share my experience with their Reset Foaming Cleanser.

This post is sponsored by ZIIP Beauty. And of course, all opinions are my own.

This is what my post will cover:

  • What makes ZIIP Beauty’s new skincare range different?
  • The ZIIP Beauty Skincare Ranges
  • The trustworthiness of the products

What is ZIIP Beauty?

For those of you who haven’t heard of this company, ZIIP Beauty is a pioneer when it comes to anti-aging at-home devices. The founder, Melanie Simon, is the creator of my favorite tool, ZIIP HALO. A microcurrent (and nanocurrent) device that uses natural electrical currents to lift, plump, and tighten the skin. And I have written a bunch of posts about it throughout this blog.

For example you can read more about the ZIIP Beauty device HALO here, and see what kind of results it can give. It can even help with acne and hyperpigmentation ( read more about that here), and is quite unique when it comes to devices with electrical current that you can use at home.

I have been using my ZIIP for years now and I can’t be more satisfied. Therefore, their newly launched skincare line made me really excited!

Their new skincare line has been developed based on the same principle: that your skin is electric. And I find it truly interesting that someone has designed skincare on that premise.

Let’s dive right in!

.

What makes ZIIP Beauty’s new skincare range different?

In simple words, what is special about these new products is that they are the first ever skincare products formulated to work with your skin’s natural bioelectricity. Our skin naturally carries electrical signals, and these play a role in processes such as skin barrier repair and healing. According to ZIIP, the ingredients we apply to our skin also have their own electrical properties, and these can influence how they interact with the skin and how they are delivered.

Rather than treating this as an afterthought, ZIIP says it has used twelve years of experience developing the ZIIP HALO to inform the way it approaches skincare formulation. The idea is to consider not just which ingredients are included in a product, but also how those ingredients are formulated to help them reach where they are intended to work, meaning the ingredients will work more efficiently and therefore deliver faster and better results, with less irritation.

The products have also been tested in clinical trials, and I’ll get back to that.

Just to be clear. The new skincare line is entirely separated from the HALO device and works on its own. And it should never be used in place of ZIIP gels.

Now, let’s talk about the technology behind the products, the product ranges, and the clinical tests that have been performed.

The ZIIP Beauty Skincare Ranges

ZIIP has created four skincare pillars, each designed around different skin concerns, each range has a serum and a moisturizer and are said to be most powerful when combined together.

The products are divided into four groups:

But the products are also made to be combined over the groups. And since each product stands on its own, each one can also be used in combination with the skincare you already use.

As someone with sensitive skin, the Barrier Boost range was my obvious place to start.

The product I’ve been trying is the ZIIP Repair Ceramide Moisturizer, which sits within the Barrier Boost range.

The trustworthiness of the products

I think it is interesting to know that all products are clinically proven and tested at an independent lab. And the results have been measured by instruments rather than the opinions of participants.

The tests included 80 persons, using the serums (which are the most potent products in the range. Each serum was tested on 20 people with Eurofins on 20 people during a period of eight to twelve weeks, under dermatological control.

The results were all statistically significant, meaning it is unlikely that the results are due to chance

All ZIIP skincare products are fragrance-free, which I think is great, since sensitive skin can easily react to fragrances.

Lastly, an important detail, at least for me, is that none of these products contains parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives. They are also 100 % cruelty free.

ZIIP Repair Ceramide Moisturizer review

Since I have highly sensitive skin, I wanted to test the Barrier Boost range, containing the Refresh Serum and the Repair Moisturizer.

The serum has the active ingredients tranexamic acid (great for skin tone) and resveratrol (great for skin renewal). But since I am still nursing I only used the Repair moisturizer (since the serum isn’t recommended when nursing) and the cleanser.

This moisturizer comes in a pretty and hygienic jar, with a pump. And for me, 1-2 pumps are enough for my face and neck. The ZIIP Repair Ceramide Moisturizer is designed to support the skin barrier and provide hydration. It contains bio-identical ceramides, Activated Moringa Seed Extract and a Magnesium PCA complex.

I was particularly interested in trying it because ceramides are an important part of the skin barrier. They help support the skin’s natural protective layer which is relevant for me

What are the key ingredients?

Bio-identical Ceramides: Ceramides are naturally found in the skin and help maintain the skin barrier. When the barrier is compromised, moisture can escape more easily, leaving the skin feeling dry or uncomfortable.

These lipids also help lock in hydration and reduce any dehydration you might have.

Activated Moringa Seed Extract which is a very nutrient dense botanical that calms redness and reduces irritation. It is a great ingredient that helps with healing of the skin barrier.

Magnesium PCA Complex which is a form of magnesium that is naturally found in the skin. It is a fantastic ingredient that hydrates and supports the skin barrier even more.

The moisturizer has a creamy texture, but once I apply it on my skin, it blends into a lightweight and non-greasy cream. The way it melts into the skin is something I honestly haven’t experienced before.

I have only used it for a few days, so I cannot speak of any long term effect. And, my skin is in pretty great shape already, after years of rebuilding my skin barrier. What’s important so far is that it hasn’t given me any negative reaction, something that most creams do. And with the ingredients it has, I for sure think it has the potential to become my new favorite moisturizer!

I’ll be happy to update you after using this for a few months!

Review of the Reset Foaming Cleanser

This cleanser comes in a beautiful bottle, with a pump. It is water based and lathers into a very light foam, and is easy to rinse off. And as all the other products, it is fragrance free.

It is formulated just like the other products, to work with your skin’s own electricity. And it contains PHA to gently exfoliate and hydrate, a mild AHA for brightness, and DCA to help with blemishes and excess oil. Despite these acids, it is very mild and made to suit all skincare types. Even the sensitive ones.

I find it excellent to remove all the sunscreen I have on my face. And it leaves the skin without any tightness. I have only used it for a few days as well, but I love it so far!
