This post will give you all the information you need about the newest version of ZIIP, and if it is worth the upgrade for those of you who already have a ZIIP HALO or ZIIP GX.

In short – What is ZIIP HALO?
ZIIP HALO is a microcurrent device that uses electrical currents to naturally lift, tone, and enhance the skin’s production of collagen and elastin. As well as giving a boost in circulation, lymphatic drainage, and healing of the skin. It is a high tech little power machine, designed to work with the skin’s natural energy at a cellular level.
Did you know that your skin cells (and all cells for that matter) have its own natural electrical energy? They constantly communicate with each other through tiny electrical signals. And for skin cells, those signals help regulate processes like cell renewal, collagen production, and healing.
With age (as well as lifestyle factors), these electrical signals gradually slow down, leading to reduced elasticity, and duller skin. The ZIIP Halo is an at-home microcurrent device designed to support this natural electricity activity in the skin. And it does it very well thanks to the plethora of electrical currents that it uses.
What also makes ZIIP Halo unique compared to other microcurrent devices is that it also offers programs that treat hyperpigmentation, blemishes, sensitive skin, and sun-damaged skin.

The ZIIP APP
ZIIP HALO has a preset treatment called The Lift. It is a 4 minute facial excellent for firming and lifting. But if you want to unlock the full potential of the device, you need to use it with their free app. This is where you find 17 different treatments for various skin concerns. And they are constantly adding new treatments!
With each and every program, you’ll get a thorough tutorial with the founder Melanie. Who also gives you education on the device, and tips and tricks for even better results.
My favorite programs at the moment are The Instant Face Lift, Eyes, and Collagen Boost. The first one is mostly working on the muscles to give a superb lift. Collagen boost is only working on the skin itself, increasing collagen and elasticity as well as restoring the skin barrier. With The eyes programme, you’re only working on the eye area which is perfect for treating puffiness. I love this combo!

How has ZIIP helped my skin?
My personal experience of ZIIP HALO has been nothing but impressive. I started using it in 2019, when I was 39 years old. And it has helped tremendously with keeping my skin young, and not looking too tired despite being sleep deprived with two small children. See my Busy mom beauty tips to learn more.
It has also helped improve my melasma (read more about that and see my before and after photos here), and helped with my hooded eyes.

Now, let’s talk about the new upgrade!
How does ZIIP HALO 2.0 differ?
First of all, the price is the exact same as the former device. And they look almost the same. But here is what makes the ZIIP HALO 2.0 different:
- ZIIP Beauty has worked with a new supplier to re-engineer the circuit board, which has resulted in waveforms that are now 63% more accurate.
- They have also added a charging port cover to the device, and redesigned the top shell to make the device more durable.
- When you buy a new device you now get the three premium conductive gels included in travel sizes (usually retailing for $99). These are Golden Gel, Silver Gel, and Crystal Gel.
- The new device is also stronger and goes up to 500 microamps in one of the programs.microamps in one of the programs.
What do these improvements actually mean?
Well, more accurate waveforms mean treatments are now delivered even more precisely! Each program uses a unique combination of intensity, waveform shape and polarity. Which in turn determines how the electrical currents interact with the skin and what results you will get.
With the improved waveform accuracy, treatments can give even better results when it comes to treatments such as de-puffing, lifting, and evening of skin tone. So with the new ZIIP Halo 2.0, you can expect even more effective and longer lasting results.
My personal experiences with the new ZIIP Halo 2.0
One thing I loved immediately was that the new device includes the luxury conductive gels in smaller sizes (Golden gel, Crystal gel, and Silver gel). In my opinion, the Crystal gel and the Golden gel are the best and I don’t want anyone to miss out on trying them. Now everyone that buys a new device will get them for free.
The original ZIIP HALO used to include just the electric complex gel, which didn’t include any active skincare ingredients. The three gels that are included now include ingredients that make the treatments even better and it’s great that you now get to try them all! The travel sizes also make it so much easier to bring my ZIIP with me when traveling!

Treatment experiences
When it comes to the treatments, I do feel like the device is more intense now. Especially the 6 minute ‘Instant Face Lift treatment which is one of my favorite programs and that now goes up to 500 microamps. It can make your face even more lifted in a shorter time. And for me that has been noticeable, especially after a night with too little sleep.
I also feel like the 4 minute “Lift” programme is much more effective now. I used to use it twice but now I only use it once because I see the same result.
And for those of you who want to treat your lip area, the Lip programme is now even more plumping! And for long term, it helps treat and prevent wrinkles around the mouth, which I write more about in my post about lip lines.

Is ZIIP HALO 2.0 worth the upgrade?
So, for those of you who have already invested in a ZIIP HALO (or the former ZIIP GX). Is the newest HALO 2.0 worth the upgrade?
Well, you can think of this update like a new version of your favorite smartphone. A technological refinement of an already great device. And I find it reassuring knowing that ZIIP wants to stay at the top of the game!
I want to stress though, that the original ZIIP HALO and ZIIP GX are both amazing devices, and highly highly effective. I have had them for years and love what they have done for my skin! So if you don’t have the budget for an upgrade, or if you just recently bought a ZIIP HALO, don’t worry! You have the (almost) best thing you can for your skin!
However, if you do decide to upgrade, you’ll get an even better tool, with slightly stronger treatments and potentially faster results. And you can of course give your older model device to someone you love, or keep it for travelling.
