best neck cream for a turkey neck

Can you tell me what you think are the best neck creams? I’m starting to get those lines that circle around my neck and I think my neck is starting to sag a bit.

I want to do something about it now before it gets worse. My mom’s neck looks pretty bad and she’s thinking of having plastic surgery to fix it. That scares me!

Editor’s Note:

Hi Sandra,

I understand why you want to do something now, especially after seeing the changes in your mom’s neck. The good news is there are some simple things you can try at home.

First, I wouldn’t spend a fortune on a neck cream that promises to lift sagging skin. Some creams can help with dryness, fine lines, and crepey skin, but they’re not going to give you a neck lift.

Here’s what I’d look for in a neck cream:

1. Hyaluronic acid and ceramides: These help keep the skin hydrated. If those lines around your neck look worse when your skin is dry, a good moisturizer may make them less noticeable.

2. Retinol: This may help improve fine lines and skin texture over time. But neck skin can be sensitive, so I’d start with a gentle formula and use it slowly rather than applying it every night right away.

3. Vitamin C: I use vitamin C in my own skincare routine, especially for uneven skin tone and brown spots. It may also help with fine lines over time, but I wouldn’t expect it to tighten loose neck skin.

4. Sunscreen: Don’t forget your neck when applying sunscreen. It’s one of the simplest ways to help prevent additional sun damage.

One moisturizer I personally like: Carolyn’s Hydrating Crème Masque. I’ve used it on both my face and neck, and what I like is that it’s versatile. I can apply a small amount as a regular moisturizer or use a thicker layer as an overnight moisturizing mask.

It’s a nice option when my skin needs extra moisture, but I wouldn’t expect it to lift sagging skin. You can read more about this cream and why I like it on my favorite facial moisturizer page.

What about the sagging?

That’s a little different from the lines circling your neck. As we age, changes in our skin and the tissues underneath can contribute to sagging. Unfortunately, no cream can completely reverse that.

I’ve been doing facial exercises and neck massage for years, and I’ve been happy with some of the changes I’ve noticed in my own face and neck. I still enjoy doing them as part of my routine, although results vary and they aren’t a substitute for a surgical lift.

You can read more about turkey neck and the options available.

And since you mentioned those lines that circle your neck, you might also like my neck wrinkles page. I share four things I’ve personally tried, along with my own results.

My suggestion? Start with a good moisturizer and daily sunscreen. You don’t need an expensive cream or a complicated routine to begin taking care of your neck.

Hope this helps, Sandra!

Linda
